History

In 1998, University of Management and Economics called “Battambang High Education Center”  was establishedby a founder, Mr.TUN Pheakdey just graduated from Moharusyveda University, Prey Veng, Cambodia. This center was located in the southern part of SOR HUR Secondary School alongside the west bank of Sangke River. In thattime, BHEC had a teacher and also 25 students, who were trained on the associate degrees such as: Accounting,Marketing, Management, and other short-courses.

- In 2000, BHEC was changed into Institute of Management and Economics recognized and approved officially bysub-decree No. 43 sub degree   issued on 17th July 2000 by Samdech Hun Sen, a Prime Minister of Cambodia. IME was located in the southern part of Phsar Lou, and consisted of 86 students and 12 lecturers by providing the education from association degree, bachelor degree, and short-courses. In 2002, IME moved and located inthe west of Net Yong High School # 74, Group 4, Prek Preah Sdech village, Sangkat Prek Preah Sdech, Battambang town, Battambang province with a large and convenience space, and IME had more than one thousand students, 26 lecturers, and 23 staff.

 - In 2006, According to the number of the students increasing rapidly, IME was inversed from IME into UME recognized and approved by sub-decree No. 25sub degree issued on 07th March 2006 by Royal Cambodian Government, and it is situated at the same location. Recently, the number of the student at UME is more than three thousand, and the university has 98 lecturers and 60 staff have been employing and working.
